"This poem is inspired by today's most consequential paradox.  We are fully aware that our continued existence depends on nature's wellbeing.  Yet we sabotage nature in every way imaginable.  The question of why that paradox exists and persists is explored by delving into the evolutionary system of conditioning.  Focusing in particular on the pleasure-seeking instinct, and the influence it exerts over our behavior."
